Adding vs removing GST
If you have a base (pre-tax) price and want the final price, choose Add GST โ the tool multiplies your amount by the rate and adds it on. If you already have a GST-inclusive total and want to find the original price and the tax portion, choose Remove GST โ the tool works backwards using the formula Net = Total ร 100 / (100 + rate).
GST rate slabs
India uses four main GST slabs โ 5%, 12%, 18% and 28% โ depending on the goods or services. Essentials are taxed lower, while luxury and sin goods sit at the top slab. Use the custom option for any other rate.
CGST and SGST
For intra-state sales, the total GST is split equally into CGST (central) and SGST (state). For example, 18% GST is 9% CGST plus 9% SGST. The total tax amount shown here is the combined figure.
